Hand Carved Mahagony Doors

So to give a little background on me.  In 1977 we started as professional woodworkers in Marina CA. Our first company there was Timber Grove, Great Fun. This was at the heighth of the Burl Boom( I'll detail it better later).  In '78 we Joined forces with Jerry Stern and his sons Brian and Jeff. (Redwood Creations)  Things were going well and we found ourselves always going to Northern California often to get UHaul truck loads Driftwood and slabs and stumps.  So we moved north, in 1980 we landed 7 miles south of Bandon Oregon as Out of theWoods (next door to West Coast Game Park)We where there for 13 years during which time we ran a Production Facility and GiftShop.

This is all leading to the doors above.  With all of our woodworking experience on the coast I learned how to prep, finish sand and finish to a high end look.  The above doors are a pair of Mahogony Hand carved entry doors that face west.  So over the years they took full driving wind rain and snow, then in the summer full hot sun.  We fully stripped the doors, then finish sanded, stained and finished with Man-O-War spar Varnish.  After the main stain application I went in with my artist brushes and balanced the colors on different boards.

The following picture shows in part the front of the house where the doors are .  Please visit our PAINTING WEB SITE
